Fantasy Baseball Weekly Notes (July 11-17)
Week 14 is here and with it comes the end of the first half of the fantasy baseball regular season. The first game begins Monday at 2:10 pm ET. After Sunday, teams will begin a 3-day All-Star break. Here are a few players that I will be targeting on the waiver wire and who are currently available in most leagues:
- The Colorado Rockies play seven games at home this week. You probably know all the typical players to add here (please correct me if I am wrong), but I would also like to draw attention to Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS, 65% owned), who hits in the heart of the Rockies order and is our top hitter to add this week.
- Matching up against the Rockies for the first 4 of those 7 games are the San Diego Padres. The Padres are dealing with some injuries, which could lead to extended opportunities for Ha-Seong Kim (2B/3B/SS, 10% owned) and Jorge Alfaro (C/OF, 24% owned), who are both worth speculative adds this week.
- After spending the entirety of the season to this point on the IL, the Boston Red Sox are expected to activate Chris Sale (SP, 88% owned) on Tuesday. Sale was rocky in his first rehab start, but we like him to figure things out soon enough to make a fantasy impact.
- Other pitchers who could return from the IL this week are Ranger Suarez and Steven Matz, but we would not be excited about using either of them in their return starts.
