Farmers Insurance Open 2022

The PGA Tour’s next event, The Farmers Insurance Open, strangely starts on Wednesday this week in an attempt to avoid the NFL Conference Championships on Sunday. Again this week, we will see the Tour playing on two courses. Each course plays a bit differently, with the North course being significantly harder, and we have adjusted our model accordingly. This week, we will focus more on strokes gained on approach, greens in regulation, strokes gained off the tee, and strokes gained putting. The weather is expected to be warm, with little wind and no real issues to be concerned about. Weather is always a factor and subject to change, so checking DFS lineups closer to lock will be crucial. In this post, we use our full set of metrics and highlight some of our favorite golfers in the competition:

John Rahm ($11,200-DK; +650 to win)

It should be no surprise that Rahm is our top cash play again this week. Simply put, Rahm is the best golfer in the world right now and is a legitimate threat to win any event he plays.

Tony Finau ($9,500-DK; +2500 to win)

It is hard to ignore Finau at this event, where he has made the cut in each of the last 7 years. Last season, he finished second. He projects to finish top 10 in our models.

Rory Sabbatini ($6,700-DK; +25000 to win)

Digging for a bit of value, we like Sabbatini, who has made the cut here 12 times in 20 attempts, including 4 of the last 5 years. He finished T10 last season.
