The PGA Tour is staying in Hawaii this week for the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club. The course itself will be one of the shorter courses on the Tour this season with very few par 5s. As such, will see golfers who play well around the greens excel. We have adjusted our model accordingly and will focus more on strokes gained on approach, birdie or better scoring, and strokes gained putting. The weather is expected to be warm, with little wind and no real issues to be concerned about. Weather is always a factor and subject to change, so checking DFS lineups closer to lock will be crucial. In this post, we use our full set of metrics and highlight some of our favorite golfers in the competition:
Sungjae Im ($10,300-DK; +1600 to win)
Im finished in the top 10 last week and projects to finish in the top 10 again here. He is in excellent form and plays his best golf on Bermuda grass. We will send him out in cash and GPP builds.
Taylor Gooch ($9,100-DK; +2500 to win)
Gooch is one of our favorite cash plays this week and should make for a high-owned chalk play. For that reason, we will likely avoid him in our GPP builds.
Seamus Power ($8,100-DK; +4000 to win)
Power’s price has shot up this week after a strong finish last week. Hopefully, you took our pick and played him. We played him every day and cashed 3 out of 4 days. This week, we project Power to finish in the top 5.
