The Open Championship 2022
It's time for the 150th Open Championship, played at one of the most well know courses in the world - St. Andrews Links. And just when this weekend looks like it can't get any better, we get the return of Tiger Woods in what might be his last event at this hallowed course.
This week, we will focus more on strokes gained on approach, greens in regulation, strokes gained off the tee, birdie or better scoring, and strokes gained putting. Weather-wise, the forecast predicts a warmer weekend than usual, with temperatures in or near the 70s on all four days. There is a slight chance for rain on Friday and not too much wind to worry about. All in all, it looks like we will get a great weekend of golf! Weather is always a factor and subject to change, so checking DFS lineups closer to lock will be crucial. In this post, we use our full set of metrics and highlight some of our favorite golfers in the competition:
Jordan Spieth ($10,000-DK; +1600 to win)
The defending runner-up at this event is easily one of the favorites in this event and after a solid performance last week Spieth should be highly owned. All good things when constructing cash builds.
Cam Smith ($9,500-DK; +2500 to win)
Smith is another golfer who is coming off a strong performance, finishing 10th at the Scottish Open last week. He seems like a popular pick around the industry this week and again should provide great value in cash lineups.
Tony Finau ($8,400-DK; +3500 to win)
For our third pick, we look to another golfer who is in great form lately. Finau also has excellent history at this course, with four top 20 finishes since 2016. Finau is great off the tee, great putting from deep, and stands way out in our projections.
