Welcome back to another edition of our Fantasy Baseball Weekly Edge Report, where we break down everything you need to know for the upcoming week of season-long fantasy baseball.

We're officially into September, which means the fantasy playoffs are either here or right around the corner for most leagues. At this point in the season, every extra plate appearance, favorable matchup, and waiver-wire addition can make a meaningful difference. With only a few weeks remaining, we're looking for volume and upside wherever we can find it.

As always, we'll cover the weekly schedule, weather outlook, teams to target, and waiver wire pickups to help you gain an edge.

🗺️ Schedule Breakdown

One of the easiest ways to create an advantage in weekly leagues is by simply getting more plate appearances. This week, we have thirteen teams slated to play seven games.

👉 Remember: These teams give you max volume. That may not sound significant, but it represents roughly a 17% increase in opportunity.

🌦️ Weather Notes

Summer weather continues to dominate the fantasy landscape, with warm temperatures expected across much of the country. That generally favors offense, as higher temperatures tend to help the ball carry and can turn routine fly balls into extra-base hits. Managers in weekly leagues should continue leaning into hitters when deciding between closely ranked options.

As always, scattered thunderstorms remain the biggest concern this time of year. Afternoon and evening storms can create delays or postponement risks throughout the Midwest and East Coast, while many West Coast games should enjoy much more stable conditions. Be sure to monitor forecasts later in the week before setting daily lineups, particularly if you're relying on fringe pitchers or streaming options.

🔥 Top Stacks to Target

Here are a few teams that are in favorable spots for the upcoming week:

⚾ Cubs (vs MIL, @ MIA)

We love targeting the Cubs this week as they get four straight games against Milwaukee before traveling to Miami for three more. Chicago has been one of the best offensive teams in baseball recently, posting the best team OPS in MLB over the last 15 days. The schedule also gives their everyday hitters seven opportunities to produce, making the Cubs one of our favorite stacks of the week.

⚾ Red Sox (vs SEA, @ BAL)

We also have our eyes on the Red Sox, who continue to swing a hot bat heading into September. Boston has posted a .808 OPS over the last 30 days, second-best in baseball during that span, and now gets seven games in a week. Three home games against Seattle followed by four in Baltimore gives the lineup plenty of opportunities to rack up counting stats during the fantasy playoff push.

⚾ Rangers (vs ATH, vs TB)

The Rangers are another team we want exposure to this week. They'll spend the entire week at home, opening with three games against the Athletics before facing Tampa Bay for four. While Texas hasn't been an elite offense overall this season, seven consecutive games at Globe Life Field creates plenty of volume, and the Athletics in particular provide an appealing matchup for a lineup that has shown some recent power upside.

🎯 Waiver Wire Targets

We always want to be aggressive on the waiver wire. Here are a few players/situations that we are keeping a close eye on:

⚾ Dylan Beavers, 2% owned, is our favorite deep-league add of the week. Beavers has quietly started to force his way into the Orioles' plans, and he has been productive recently with three home runs over the past week. Baltimore also has seven games on the schedule, giving Beavers plenty of opportunities if he continues to find his way into the lineup.

⚾ Zack Gelof, 5% owned, is another player we're willing to take a shot on. Gelof has been trending in the right direction since returning from the injured list, and he's posted a .506 wOBA over the past seven days. The combination of multi-position eligibility, power potential, and a seven-game schedule makes him an intriguing addition for managers looking for upside.

⚾ Walbert Urena, 20% owned, remains a pitcher we're interested in despite his recent struggles with command. He enters the week with two projected starts against Cleveland and Philadelphia, and his season-long numbers still show legitimate upside with a 2.94 ERA and 112 strikeouts over 116.1 innings. He's not a must-start option, but the two-start opportunity makes him worth adding in leagues where innings are difficult to find.

⚾ Zac Thornton, 13% owned, is another deeper-league pitching option worth considering. Thornton is lined up for two starts against Milwaukee and Houston, and while neither matchup is particularly easy, the opportunity for two starts this late in the season is valuable. If you're chasing innings, strikeouts, or simply need a streamer with some upside, Thornton is worth a look.

September is here, and the fantasy playoffs are officially upon us. At this point in the season, we're prioritizing volume and opportunity above almost everything else. A player getting seven games instead of five or six can make a meaningful difference, especially when every at-bat and inning matters.
