FFB Waiver Wire (September 13, 2022)
NFL Week 1 is in the books. Heading into Week 2, let's look at a few players who we will target and are available in most leagues:
Carson Wentz (QB, 16% owned) had a solid Week 1 w/ over 27 fantasy points. We are not ready to call Wentz a top 10 option, but he is worth using in 2 QB leagues and as a streaming option.
I can't remember a season where more RB talent was available after just one week of football. It starts with Darrell Henderson (RB, 50% owned), our top pick-up this week, who lead the Los Angeles Rams in snaps and carries in Week 1. Henderson outsnapped Cam Akers 54 to 12.
Our second favorite pickup this week is San Francisco 49ers RB Jeff Wilson, Jr. (5% owned), who will take over as the top option with Elijah Mitchell projected to miss 8 weeks.
Another RB high on our radar is Khalil Herbert (25% owned), who out-performed starter David Montgomery in Week 1 for the Chicago Bears. Herbert is the better fit for this offense and should win the job before the end of the season.
Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers had a very clear top receiving target in Week 1. Against the Browns, Robby Anderson (WR, 35% owned) led the Panthers in receptions, targets, and yards while playing 100% of snaps. He is our third favorite pick-up and our top WR to add.
The New York Jets threw the ball 59 times in Week 1 and that may not change as they should find themselves trailing in games more often than not. Corey Davis (WR, 4% owned) finished the game with 6 catches on 9 targets, 77 yards, and a TD.
Now teamed up with Tom Brady in Tampa, Julio Jones (WR, 44% owned) looks like the guy we've always known him to be. Jones flashes high-end speed in Week 1 and should see plenty of opportunities for the Bucs with Chris Godwin sideline with yet another leg injury.
For those streaming TE, or possibly those who drafted George Kittle despite our warnings, we like Tyler Higbee (50% owned), who saw 9 targets in Week 1 and currently leads the league in targets among TEs. Odell is gone and the Rams were noticeable shallow at WR in that Week 1 game. Higbee should continue to see a consistent volume of targets moving forward.
