After what felt like a very long offseason, the PGA Tour is back! The Sentry Tournament of Champions will be played in Hawaii at the Plantation Course at Kapalua. The course itself will be one of the easier courses to play this season with very wide fairways and greens. Expect plenty of birdies to go around. We have adjusted our model accordingly and will focus more on strokes gained on approach and birdie or better scoring. The weather is expected to be warm, with no real issues to be concerned about. Weather is always a factor and subject to change, so checking DFS lineups closer to lock will be crucial. In this post, we use our full set of metrics and highlight some of our favorite golfers in the competition:
Justin Thomas ($10,600-DK; +800 to win)
Justin Thomas is likely to be one of the higher owned golfers on the slate and rightfully so. He is a two-time winner and two-time third place finisher at this event and has historically always started the PGA season strong. Thomas is safe to send out in both GPP and cash builds.
Bryson DeChambeau ($10,200-DK; +1200 to win)
On a course where we talk a lot about long drives, DeChambeau’s short game is what will set him apart in this field. He has a top ten finish in each of his last two events on this course.
Seamus Power ($6,600-DK; +7000 to win)
Power sneaks into the top 10 on our model and comes in at a great price point. Most notably, Power plays very well on par-5s and is in great form.
