NFL DFS: Week 5

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

Each week, we will break down the DFS main slate for the weekend on both Draft Kings and FanDuel. Let’s get right to it:

Quarterback:

Ryan Tannehill (DK-$6,400; FD-$7,200) – Tannehill has a very soft matchup this week vs a terrible JAX defense that ranks last against the pass. For cash builds, you could stack Tannehill and Henry with confidence.

Daniel Jones (DK-$6,000; FD-$7,400) – Through four weeks of football, Jones ranks as QB7. He is not priced accordingly. Playing from behind vs DAL this week should help too.

Runningback:

Derrick Henry (DK-$9,000: FD-$10,400) – We hinted at this pick in our QB section. What separates Henry from other RBs, besides his massive size and immense talent, is his usage rate. Through four weeks, Henry has 128 total touches, which is 36 more than the next closest guy (Joe Mixon).

Damien Williams (DK-$5,600; FD-$5,800) – With David Montgomery out for about a month, Williams is expected to step into a huge role in the Bears backfield. His price is too good to fade on both sites this week.

Wide Receiver:

DaVante Adams (DK-$7,500; FD-$7,900) – Adams will face one of the weakest secondaries in football this week and is behind only Coop Kupp in targets through four weeks.

DJ Moore (DK-$6,600; FD-$7,300) – We had Moore here last week as a clear cash game play and he paid off. His price is still way too low on both sites, especially on DK.

Kadarius Toney (DK-$4,000; FD-$5,300) – We like to stack our QBs with WRs and Toney will provide us a great chance to do just that. After injuries to a few of the Giants’ primary pass-catchers, Toney stepped up in a big way last week. If he starts again, his price on DK is too good to ignore.

Tight End:

Dalton Schultz (DK-$4,400; FD-$6,200) – Schultz has 15 targets and 3 TDs over the last two weeks. We are unsure if the production levels will remain high, but he is worth a GPP dart for as long as Gallup remains out.

Mike Gesicki (DK-$4,200; FD-$5,600) – Thanks to new starting QB Jacoby Brissett, Gesicki ranks sixth among TEs in total targets. From a value standpoint, Gesicki is our favorite TE on both sites.

Defense/Special Teams:

New England Patriots (DK-$4,900; FD-$5,000) – If there ever was a week to save budget for a defense, it might be this one. Coming off an impressive performance against the high-powered Bucs offense, they now get a matchup with a terrible team in the Texans.

Pittsburgh Steelers (DK-$3,300; FD-$4,000) – This play is speculative, based on whether Teddy Bridgewater remains in concussion protocol. If Teddy was forced to sit, they are too cheap for a team facing a backup QB.
