After an exciting stretch of summer golf, the PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the 2026 regular season and the last opportunity for players to secure a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs.
The Wyndham consistently delivers one of the most entertaining scoring environments on the PGA Tour. Sedgefield is short by modern standards, but narrow fairways and demanding Donald Ross greens place a premium on accuracy and precise iron play. Expect plenty of birdies, with strong approach players and reliable putters positioned to separate themselves from the field.
The playoff bubble adds another layer of intrigue. Several notable players enter the week needing a strong finish to move inside the top 70, while others will look to improve their positioning before the postseason begins. Defending champion Cameron Young headlines a talented field that also includes Jackson Koivun, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, and Tom Kim. Young returns after a dominant six-stroke victory last season and will attempt to become the first repeat Wyndham champion since Sam Snead.
⛳Course Breakdown: Sedgefield Country Club
Par 70
Approximately 7,131 yards
Bermudagrass greens
Donald Ross design
Sedgefield Country Club is one of the shorter courses on the PGA Tour schedule, but that does not mean players can simply overpower it. The fairways are narrow, placing a greater emphasis on positioning off the tee than raw driving distance.
Golfers who consistently find the fairway should have plenty of opportunities to attack with wedges and short irons. The greens are relatively large but feature the undulations and run-off areas commonly associated with Donald Ross designs, making precise approach play and strong putting important.
Despite the course's defenses, this has historically been a birdie-fest. Winning scores have reached at least 20-under in eight of the past 10 years, and Cameron Young won at 22-under last season. With only two short par 5s and several scoring-friendly par 4s, aggressive golfers should have plenty of opportunities to pile up DraftKings points.
🔑 Key Stats to Target
Because accuracy and approach play should be more valuable than raw power, we are prioritizing:
Driving Accuracy
Strokes Gained: Approach
Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green
Greens in Regulation
Strokes Gained: Putting
Birdie or Better Percentage
Par 4 Efficiency: 400-450 Yards
Distance is not completely irrelevant, but it is far less important than it was at Detroit Golf Club. We want golfers who consistently find fairways, create quality birdie opportunities, and can take advantage of Sedgefield's short par 4s.
☁️Weather Forecast
Early forecasts call for warm and humid conditions throughout the tournament, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 80s. Winds currently appear manageable, which should allow Sedgefield to remain highly scoreable.
There is some potential for afternoon thunderstorms later in the week, but no major weather edge is apparent at this time.
As always, monitor final forecasts Wednesday night in case rain or changing conditions create a meaningful wave advantage.
💰DFS Strategy
Sedgefield presents a much different test than Detroit Golf Club. Rather than prioritizing pure driving distance, we expect accuracy, elite iron play, and putting to drive most of the winning lineups.
Cameron Young is the clear standout at the top of the salary range. He enters as the defending champion and combines above-average accuracy with elite length and recent form. However, Jackson Koivun offers a compelling alternative after his recent victory and strong history at this event.
Because the course is short and the field contains several viable mid-tier options, balanced builds should be more attractive than they were last week. We still expect to roster at least one elite golfer in many lineups, but there are enough strong options between $7,000 and $9,000 to create multiple competitive constructions.
Ownership may concentrate around Young, Koivun, Ryan Gerard, and Aaron Rai. In large-field tournaments, we are willing to embrace some volatility with golfers who possess strong course history or playoff motivation.
Cash Game Core
Cameron Young ($10,400 DK; +810 to win)
Young returns to Sedgefield as the defending champion after dominating this event by six strokes last season. He enters in excellent form following consecutive top-10 finishes at The Open Championship and Rocket Classic. Young possesses a rare combination of distance and accuracy, giving him multiple paths to success at a course where finding the fairway remains important. Young's salary is difficult to ignore, but his combination of recent form, course history, and overall upside makes him our preferred cash-game anchor.
Ryan Gerard ($9,300 DK; +2800 to win)
Gerard continues putting together one of the most consistent seasons on Tour.
He ranks among the stronger players in this field in both Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Putting while also providing above-average accuracy and distance off the tee. Recent top-10 finishes have only strengthened his profile. Although he missed the cut at the Wyndham last season, Gerard is playing significantly better golf now and offers one of the highest floors in the mid-to-upper salary range.
Aaron Rai ($8,800 DK; +3100 to win)
Rai may be one of the best course fits in the entire field. He won the Wyndham Championship in 2024 and followed that performance with a fifth-place finish last season. His lack of distance is less concerning at Sedgefield, where accuracy and precise approach play are far more valuable. Rai's recent form has been inconsistent, but his elite driving accuracy and outstanding course history make him an excellent cash-game option.
GPP Targets
Jackson Koivun ($10,100 DK; +1800 to win)
Koivun enters with significant momentum after winning the 3M Open and continues establishing himself as one of the most exciting young players on Tour. His irons and putting were outstanding during that victory, and his fifth-place finish at Sedgefield last season provides additional confidence. The shorter layout should allow his elite approach play to remain the focal point. Koivun will likely carry meaningful ownership, but his combination of recent form and course history gives him legitimate tournament-winning upside.
Davis Thompson ($8,400 DK; +5400 to win)
Thompson enters the week with plenty of motivation as he attempts to make a late push into the FedExCup Playoffs. He has recorded consecutive top-10 finishes and steadily improved at the Wyndham throughout his career, progressing from a missed cut to finishes of T22, T12, and T11. Thompson's strong combination of off-the-tee play and approach upside makes him an appealing GPP target, particularly if his ownership remains modest.
Blades Brown ($7,800 DK; +5400 to win)
Brown continues showing why he is one of the most promising young golfers in the game. The 19-year-old has recorded multiple top-10 finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour and has already demonstrated significant upside against PGA Tour competition. His combination of distance and accuracy creates an intriguing ceiling, even without prior experience at Sedgefield. Brown carries more volatility than our cash-game options, but his upside makes him an excellent tournament play.

🧠Final Thoughts
Sedgefield Country Club should once again reward accurate drivers, elite approach players, and golfers capable of converting birdie opportunities.
Unlike last week's power-focused setup, this course places a greater premium on positioning and precision. Prioritize golfers who consistently find fairways and greens, while targeting strong putters capable of taking advantage of a scoring-friendly layout.
The FedExCup Playoff bubble should also create additional urgency for several players, making motivation and recent form important factors when building lineups.
Good luck this week, and as always, monitor final weather updates and ownership projections before lock.
