The All-Star Break has arrived, giving fantasy managers a much-needed opportunity to reset before the stretch run. While the festivities will take center stage early in the week, season-long leagues return to action on Thursday, making this a shorter but still impactful scoring period (depending on your format).

With only four days of games this week (July 16-19), every lineup decision carries a little more weight. Maximizing plate appearances, taking advantage of favorable weekend matchups, and staying aggressive on the waiver wire can provide an edge in tightly contested categories.

As always, we'll break down the schedule, weather outlook, top offenses to target, and a handful of waiver wire names worth adding before baseball returns.

🗺️ Schedule Breakdown

With the All-Star Break running through midweek, fantasy managers only have four days of games to work with before the second half officially begins. The condensed schedule means volume matters less than quality, making favorable matchups even more valuable than usual.

Only the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays start the second half with a four-game weekend series, giving their hitters an opportunity to accumulate counting stats quickly. Managers should prioritize healthy everyday players over platoon bats whenever possible, as every game represents 25% of this week's production.

Pitching decisions become equally important in a shortened week. Two-start pitchers are unlikely to be available in most formats, so focusing on favorable individual matchups and strong ratios may prove more valuable than simply chasing innings.

🌦️Weather Notes

Summer weather should once again provide favorable offensive conditions across much of the league as teams return from the All-Star Break. Warmer temperatures throughout much of the Midwest, Northeast, and East Coast typically help carry the ball a bit farther than the cooler conditions fantasy managers dealt with earlier in the season, creating a slightly better environment for hitters during the weekend slate.

As always, weather remains worth monitoring throughout the weekend, as scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms become increasingly common during July. While most delays are unlikely to significantly impact fantasy production, managers should continue checking forecasts before first pitch, particularly for games in the Midwest and along the East Coast where summer storms can develop quickly.

🔥Top Stacks to Target

Looking beyond the two teams mentioned above (BOS and TB) that play an extra game, we want to highlight a few other teams that are in favorable spots coming out of the break:

 Dodgers (@ NYY)

The Dodgers remain one of the premier offenses in baseball regardless of matchup. Their combination of elite power, patience, and lineup depth makes them a strong target nearly every week, especially in a condensed scoring period where explosive offensive performances can quickly separate fantasy matchups.

 Nationals (@ ATH)

The Nationals have quietly developed the most productive offense in baseball, leading the league in runs per game entering the All-Star Break. With a lineup that consistently puts runners on base and creates scoring opportunities throughout the order, they remain an attractive fantasy stack in all formats. A weekend series in a favorable hitting environment only raises their offensive ceiling, making Washington one of the top lineups to target in this shortened period.

 Reds (@ COL)

The Reds receive one of the biggest schedule boosts of the week as they head to Coors Field for a weekend series against the Rockies. No ballpark consistently enhances offensive production quite like Coors, making Cincinnati one of the premier stacking options despite the shortened period. With an explosive young lineup capable of producing both power and speed, the Reds have the potential to put up crooked numbers throughout the weekend.

🎯Waiver Wire Targets

We always want to be aggressive on the waiver wire. Here are a few players/situations that we are keeping a close eye on:

⚾Caleb Durbin, 32% owned, continues to provide underrated fantasy value thanks to his everyday playing time and multi-position eligibility. Durbin's excellent contact skills and above-average speed give him the ability to contribute in batting average, runs, and stolen bases, making him a valuable addition for managers looking to strengthen their infield heading into the second half of the season.

⚾ AJ Ewing, 28% owned, has been a top 25 OF since the beginning of June and now hits leadoff for the Mets in front of Juan Soto. No need to overthink this one - add Ewing in all formats.

⚾ Dylan Crews, 36% owned, is worth adding for managers looking to chase upside during the second half. The former top prospect continues to receive everyday at-bats, and his combination of power and speed gives him the potential to contribute across all five standard categories if he finds his rhythm at the plate. With improved quality of contact and a secure role in Washington's lineup, he's the type of high-ceiling waiver add that could pay dividends down the stretch.

⚾ Peter Lambert, 55% owned, is our latest player to have a repeat appearance among our highlighted waiver adds. Lambert has done a solid job limiting hard contact and keeping his team in games. While he may not offer elite strikeout upside, Lambert can provide quality innings and useful ratio help for managers in need of rotation support.

We post a longer list every Sunday on X (@FTO_picks).

🧠 Final Thoughts

The second half of the fantasy baseball season always seems to move quickly, making every transaction and lineup decision increasingly important. Good luck this week, enjoy the All-Star festivities, and we'll be back next week with another edition of the FBB Weekly Edge Report as the playoff races begin to heat up.

👉 Remember: A shortened period following the All-Star Break may not offer as much volume, but it presents an excellent opportunity to gain ground by targeting favorable matchups and staying active on the waiver wire.
